โSo with that philosophy in mind, I headed down to Midtown Village for my free fifteen-minute session. When I walked through the door my heart was racing, but the soothing music in the waiting room instantly started to calm my nerves. After about ten minutes of waiting, my turn was up. The nerves suddenly came rushing back and I quickly tried to think of an escape plan. But it was too late. I was already being led into a room where I saw about five other people lying motionless on the acupuncture beds. [...] As I exhaled, she inserted one needle into each pressure point. I was super relieved after she put the first one in my wrist, because it just felt like a tiny pinch. When she stuck my ears, on the other hand, it hurt pretty bad. To give you an idea: It felt like Iโd gotten my cartilage re-pierced โ and if youโve ever had your cartilage pierced, you know it hurts.โ
โWhen I arrived at the practitioners office, she greeted me and lead me into a private room. She asked me a few questions about my concerns, then had me lay face down on a massage table. She put the acupuncture needles in my neck, shoulders, upper back, along my spine, and lower back. The needles didn't hurt much. She then left me to rest for quite a while. Almost immediately after she left he room I felt relaxed. So relaxed, I fell asleep. [...] Once I left her office and stepping outside, thats when the treatment hit me. The green tree's lining the concrete streets were brighter than before. The sun felt like a warm blanket, and the city sounds had dimmed to a soft hum.โ
โThe first needle that she put in was in my ear. I felt it, but it didnโt hurt the way that I thought it would. She continued to put the needles in throughout my whole body and I could barely feel it when she did. The two spots that I felt the most were in my right lower leg and my left hand. After a while, I could no longer feel anything in either of the spots because a wave of relaxing and calming sensation took over my body. Throughout the whole experience, I felt very relaxed. It was almost like a euphoric feeling.โ
