βWe were both in need of a relaxing afternoon after spending so much time on our feet, so we made a reservation for afternoon tea downstairs! It was the perfect break from the warm, muggy weather outside and a nice escape from the typical Chinese fare β to be perfectly honest, there werenβt many restaurants we liked while we were thereβ¦ but this one was GREAT! We treated it as a late lunch vs a snack, which was perfect. There was lots to eat! The tea sandwiches were all very yummy, but definitely different from what Iβve had in London. My favorite part of the Afternoon Tea was actually the tea, which I can honestly say Iβve never said before. [...] I was surprised and pleased to see my tea was pink! So fun. And it was absolutely delicious β lots of sweet, floral notes in it.β
βBefore I even go into details - let me just say that, it was indeed great! Such lovely ambiance as a result of its high ceilings, marble (?) columns plated with gold, and the dimmed lighting accompanied by a live quartet on the balcony of the second floor. My friend and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea set for two with sandwiches, scones, and other delicate pastries and had a nice pot of the Peninsula Blend tea that came in actual silverware. The type of silverware that you see in history books or antique shops with the tea pot, tea strainer, hot water pot, teaspoon, and tray - all in silver.β
βThe Clipper Lounge is like an old, reliable friend. Sure, itβs upscale but relaxed enough to collapse in the comfortable chairs after a morning full of shopping and sightseeing. Some tables have a lovely view over the grand lobby area. The space overall is intimate and does not overwhelm me, which is part of the reason why I like it so much. [...] A few hours lingering over tea is the perfect way to unwind in the late afternoon and a ritual that I quite enjoy.β
