“I was so, so nervous the whole time but I’m so glad that I pushed myself to go, and also to get up and try again every single time i fell, which was a lot of times!! It took me almost 1.5 hours to complete my first trail, and I likely fell 20+ times, but it was incredibly enjoyable the whole time! I was laughing every time I fell and I really pushed myself mentally and physically to somewhat overcome my fear of falling. [...] I ended up getting only 3 runs in, but my last run I didn’t fall a single time, and finished in 15 min. I was so proud of myself [...] Every single muscle in my body is sore right now but I’ve never felt stronger, both physically and mentally.”
“I arrived in Austria nervous and excited. [...] After an hour of wrestling with the weird ski lift, I was starting to feel a little more confident [...] In the afternoon my instructor took me on a more challenging blue run. There was a very steep section that terrified me, but we took it slowly and he reminded me that I could easily stop anytime I wanted. Which I did. Regularly. [...] It was nearing the end of the day. There was just enough time for a final run. A red run. I was thrilled. My instructor was going to take me on a red run. And then I saw it. And I wasn’t thrilled at all. What on Earth had I done. [...] I contemplated going down on my bum. Then decided I would just have to go for it, and lose my dignity, and possibly a leg. It must have been funny to watch, as I kind of half skied, half fell and half shuffled down the dreaded section, but I made it! And my leg made it too!”
“When I went down my first blue I spent half the time on my arse, which was expected! But that didn’t stop me and I carried on with my friends, whose patience was admirable it must be said. By the end of the day I was going down blues only falling over once or twice. That was an achievement for me.”
