βI went paddle boarding on Superior Bay today because every day I get on the water before winter is a treasure. Along the outside of Barkerβs Island, northeasterly winds pushed against me and made the water choppy. To avoid becoming a human sail shoved in the wrong direction, I knelt, paddled fast, and kept the board moving forward. After I rounded the tip of the island and entered the calm waters on the marina side, I stood up, slowed down, and looked around. The jubilant sky was azure blue with wispy clouds, as if Bob Ross had painted them with a wide brush, using bold, sweeping strokes of brilliant white paint, while cooing, βLetβs add happy clouds in the sky.β
βAs I slowly stepped onto the paddleboard, the tranquility of the surroundings took me by surprise. It was just me, the board, and the vast expanse of crystal-clear water. I pushed off and wobbled a bit as I tried to find my balance, but once I did, it was as if time had slowed down. Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe was one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen. Surrounded by the stunning Sierra Nevada Mountains, the picturesque rock formations, and the clear blue water, I couldnβt have asked for a better place to try out paddleboarding for the first time. It was a moment of complete serenity that I will never forget.β
βI made a reservation at Sand Harbor State Park for yesterday morning and was on the water by 8:30AM. As it was my first time on the lake, I was absolutely stunned by the beauty of both the water and surrounding landscapes. I swear it felt like I was somewhere in the waters of the Carribean except when the cold water would splash on my feet . Temps got up to 15C by noon so it wasn't too bad temperature wise. The park itself is beautiful as well and worth a visit paddling or not.β
