Prepare everything the night before so you can actually stay in bed - coffee in a thermos, pastries, fresh fruit, and maybe mimosas. Turn off your phone, open the curtains for natural light, and savor the rare luxury of nowhere to be and nothing pressing to do.

I’ve only ever ordered breakfast in bed on vacation a handful of times. It’s a seemingly luxurious experience (probably because of the accompanying bill): you’re starting your day with a slow morning, savoring your favorite breakfast foods and relaxing in the comfort of the covers. In a society dominated by “hustle culture” my life was craving just the opposite; a moment to slow down and enjoy the pleasure that comes with allowing yourself to be in the moment. I decided that breakfast in bed was the perfect way to achieve that feeling, so I scheduled every Sunday morning as “Sunday’s in Bed” in my calendar. It’s the one day a week I don’t rush to get up and hit the ground running, instead allowing myself to sleep in and savor the morning.
