Antelope Canyon is a mystical slot canyon where sunbeams slice through narrow openings, creating cathedral-like light shows on sculpted sandstone walls. The upper canyon offers the famous light beams while the lower canyon provides more intimate exploration. Book tours well in advance as this photographer's paradise fills up quickly.

β€œOnce we descended the first staircase into the canyon, the temperature dropped noticeably, and the noise from outside disappeared. It felt like stepping into another world. Lower Antelope Canyon is narrower than I expected. In some sections, you can touch both walls if you stretch your arms out. There are multiple ladders (I think eight in total) and they’re steep but sturdy, with handrails. I’m reasonably fit, and I didn’t find them difficult, but I wouldn’t recommend this tour to anyone with knee problems or balance issues. The light inside the canyon was unreal. Beams of soft golden light filtered down from above, and the sandstone glowed in shades of orange, red, and even purple in the shadows.”

β€œOne moment that stood out: halfway through, Archie pulled out a flute and played a short melody. The acoustics inside the canyon amplified the sound beautifully. It was quiet, echoing, and surprisingly emotional. Our group had about 12 people. It never felt chaotic, though we did pass other groups at certain points. The guides coordinate with each other to keep traffic moving. There were moments when we had to wait briefly to let another group clear a photo spot, but it wasn’t frustrating.”

β€œHonestly I kind of hated Antelope Canyon. I did the upper and lower tours. It was really expensive and really rushed. I prefer doing things in smaller groups and at my own pace where I can ask questions and learn more about the geology and history and culture. It felt like an expensive instagram photoshoot which is so not my vibe.”
