βI (30M) went for my first massage today. My upper back/shoulders were very sore after the gym the last few days and I had the day off so decided to give it a go. I went to the closest place, they had 5 stars with a few hundred reviews on google so I thought Iβd be in good shape. I got there and shit got weird and being a first timer I didnβt know how to react. The lady spoke ZERO English, only Chinese. No problem but the language barrier added to the bizarreness of the experience. So within the first 5 minutes of this thing sheβs got her full body on me, knees digging into my butt cheeks giving me like reverse chest compressions. Then she flips around sitting in my lower back and BAM! she pulls my legs in the air like a damn scorpion. The last 30 minutes or so she dialed it down and it was what I had originally expected but she didnβt use nearly enough pressure for what I needed but I couldnβt communicate that to her. This is all new to me so I was just taking in the experience but can someone please tell me that what I got today was not a normal massage experience?β
βShe says, "undress to your comfort level". Which I am not a modest person so this doesn't really bother me. I have on a tank top and my undies. When she comes back into the room she said I would have to take off my tank top to do the full, and that is when I felt exposed. You think a professional massage would feel great, but the whole time I kept thinking about how strange it is that a person I know nothing about is touching my entire body. Not to mention, since I wasn't sore my muscles didn't really need to be work through tightness so I didn't get a lot of benefits from it. I could barely feel anything at all. I am someone who is comfortable with human contact, hugs, and affection, but no one touches my lower back or hamstrings on the regular. It is just strange that a stranger would.β
βI knew how long 60 minutes felt like in the car and I was more than ready to spend the same amount of time in the capable hands of a licensed massage therapist! The daily commute and eight hours in front of my computer everyday was really taking a toll on the muscles in my neck, shoulders, lower back and even my hips! Every day, I felt like I woke up with more kinks in my body than when I went to sleep. This is going to be fantastic, I thought to myself after hanging up the phone with the massage clinic. And it was! I felt so great after my 60 minute massage that I told myself it was well worth the $100 spent. I left the massage clinic feeling like I was floating to the car. I sang along to the radio the whole car ride home (which I never do during my daily commute, being way too cranky) and woke up the next morning still feeling like a hundred bucks.β
