Hold on tight as you try to stay mounted on a bucking machine designed to simulate riding a real bull. Start on slower settings and focus on gripping with your thighs rather than just your hands. It's harder than it looks and guaranteed to give you a new appreciation for rodeo riders.

β€œIt was rodeo night at Zest restaurant in Ebisu so I met Tim and some other friends to ride the mechanical bull. About 10 people volunteered for the first run, but I don’t remember anybody staying on for long. I lasted just over 10 seconds and Tim came down in about 3. It is much more difficult and brutal than it looks. I still have bruises on my legs and the base of my thumbs is swollen.”

β€œOnce I got the nerve up, I paid for my bull ride and sauntered over to the bull. Being really short it was hard to climb on. Once it started moving it was difficult to keep my balance. I was determined to only use one hand, but wasn’t really certain how to ensure that I didn’t fall off. Frankly, I would not have faired any better with two hands. Eventually I was ejected from the bull and thrown on to the giant balloon cushion bellow.”

β€œDespite the pain, Tim and I decided to go for the 2nd round which is twice as wild. The Japanese guy that went before us lasted an amazing 40 seconds, but I fell off in about 3 while Tim went down within 2. Will I do it again? Yes.”
