β€œDuring my journey, I’ve encountered raging waterfalls, pothole-strewn dirt roads, forests, deserts, spectacular landscapes and incredible people from every walk of life; though, nothing could have prepared me for what I was to experience in the redwood forests. Trees towered above like natural skyscrapers, their trunks wider than the car itself stood alongside the asphalt, guiding me towards what seemed to be a secret sanctuary deep in the heart of the California forest. I craned my neck outside the driver’s side window to catch my first glimpse of their colossal scale, reaching endlessly into the sky above a canopy of leaves that shielded their majestic crown from the ground.”

β€œBut when I first saw them in person, from the car, they were just really big trunks. Granted they were beautiful trunks. Driving among them I got this cozy comfy feeling. Vegetation mostly disappeared, replaced by a textured, deep but warm brown. The road wove through them like a secret passage to another place. Then the tunnel of trunks ended and brought us out to another side where the disarray of shrubs and green leaves on full branches began again. It was hard to see that these trunks were actually very tall trees until we stopped and I got out of the car, craned my neck all the way back, and looked up. Way up.”

β€œIn all of our travels, I’ve noticed that different places have different β€œfeels” to them. In all of its amazing-ness… the thing about the Redwoods that stood out the most was its feeling. It just felt magical. Like a fairy might be peeking out at you from behind a tree, or that the oxygen the trees were producing might be healing every ailment you might have, one breath at a time. The feeling surrounded you. A walk through the woods there was truly a magical experience.”
