Stand before the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World, where the Great Pyramid stood as the tallest human-made structure for nearly 4,000 years. Visit at sunrise for golden light and smaller crowds, and don't miss entering the pyramid's narrow passages. The nearby Sphinx and Solar Boat Museum complete this bucket-list experience.

βThere was something magical in the moment: standing inside the first pyramid I had ever entered, surrounded by religious texts of people who lived over four millennia ago, in the final resting place of a long-dead ruler, watching as shadow people appeared on the wall. It doesnβt take much to put yourself in the shoes (sandals?) of an ancient Egyptian who would have similarly marveled at the feat.β
βI genuinely thought we were all just holding hands for a second before he started guiding our breathing and instructed us to close our eyes. Keep in mind, tourists were coming in and out of the room the whole time this was happening, I can only imagine what it looked like: 2 girls and a guard performing a seance? Who knows β anyway β After a few minutes of meditating in the pharaohβs tomb, I look up and my friend is crying. Real tears. [...] Up until that moment, I felt nothing β then with my palms against the wall, my arms started to vibrate. This threw me. Palms against the wall: vibration. Palms a few inches away: nothing.β
βDespite the bad experience, looking up at the pyramid from the bottom left me speechless. I was there when the gate opened, so I basically had a whole pyramid to myself. It was magical! Here is me for scale. I was not even that close to the pyramid, yet I was still dwarfed by its majesty.β
βSeeing the interior of the Great Pyramid was fascinating. Took a bit of shuffling bent over to get to the last chamber, and it was very hot and humid inside. Luckily I went to the boat museum just outside the pyramid; it had AC going full blast.β
βWe got to go inside the big pyramid (you pay extra and its limited to only 100 people per day) .. and we were some of the first people on that day to go inside the pyramid β¦ thus we were all alone for the 15-minute visit. I am a tall guy, so the 100 meters in the 3 feet by 3 feet crawl space to the top was a total hassle, but getting to the top was worth it.β
βGoing inside the pyramids of Giza was the most surreal and hilarious experience Iβve had so far in Egypt, maybe ever. Honestly, thereβs not much to see under the pyramids at the Giza complex β but itβs amazing just to think βIβm inside the great pyramids right nowβ which (in my mind) made it worth spending the extra few bucks to buy the extra ticket in.β
