โ€œThe only place we experienced serious hassling was Luxor where we had one isolated incident. A persistent and aggressive tout who was trying to get us to ride his horse and cart literally wouldn't leave us alone even after we said no a dozen times and ignored him for several minutes as he followed us. Eventually I snapped and shouted at him to back off and he stopped immediately. It was super unpleasant, and I can imagine if we'd been subjected to that kind of harassment the entire duration of the trip, we might have a very different perception of Egypt.โ€

โ€œIn Cairo we walked around all the major tourist spots and weren't hassled at all. We caught an uber out to the pyramids at Giza and wandered around for hours and were approached by people who tried to sell us cammel rides, none of whom were pushy. A polite but stern "no thankyou" a couple of times, then ignoring them and refusing to engage, worked fine and we were left alone. I'd honestly expected Giza to be hell, judging by the stories I'd read on this thread.โ€

โ€œNothing โ€” not photos, videos, or years of reading about them โ€” can prepare you for the sheer size of these wonders. We got up close, even climbing onto a few of the massive blocks near the base. Standing there, dwarfed by stone that had been placed more than 4,500 years ago without the help of modern machinery, was a humbling reminder of the brilliance and ambition of ancient engineers.โ€
