Train for events like car deadlifts, atlas stone carries, and truck pulls that test raw functional strength rather than gym lifts. The community is incredibly supportive, and competitions often feel more like festivals than serious athletic events. Expect to discover muscles you never knew existed and develop practical strength for real-world tasks.

βEvent 4 - Hellfire Medley (Sandbag, Farmers, Husafell, Sled Drag) Going into this competition, there was no question in my mind that I was going to blitz this event, but my body had other ideas. Minutes before my run, the entirety of both of my legs were locking up so badly I could barely manage a zombie waddle. That combined with the fact I was already trying to be extra cognizant of any pulling in my right hamstring [...] did not bode well, but it was threatening to rain, and it was my time to go. Main goal was to not injure anything, so I wobbled my way through.β
βAXLE DEADLIFT LADDER: I felt good for this one - 5 deadlifts, 75 seconds at 170/180/190/200/210. Ripped through the first 4 and died on the last one - could not shift it more than a few cms to my suprise. The last axle was different: no knurling and dense - 35kilos. The 200 went up easy but somehow only 10kgs more and on a different bar and just did not get any love. Another 2 in my group failed it though, so wast just me.β
βThere were three farmerβs implements, and each had to be carried 40 feet. They weighed 210, 230, and 260 lbs per hand. I finished in 33.93 seconds and took 6th place! Before the competition, Iβd never picked up anything close to 520 lbs.β
