βThe first thing I noticed even before opening the container was the smell. It reminded me of durian, how it so easily penetrates anything it's kept in. Unfortunately, I found the scent to be about as pleasant as durian as well. Specifically, it smelled like acetone. Like, exactly like acetone. I kept waving it under my nose throughout the evening to see if that would change, but it never did. [...] Almost immediately they released a scent that was drastically different from the sharp acetone smell from before. I know the word "earthy" gets used a lot when describing truffles, and it's hard to describe what that really means without experiencing it for yourself - which is unfortunate, because it's pretty much the perfect word for it. The butter helped to turn what initially just smelled like a bag of soil into a lovely blend of savory, spicy and bitter that made me involuntarily exclaim, "Oh, that's good!β
βI tried truffle fries for the first time and I hated it!!!! Unfortunately, the gourmet burger we had also had truffle sauce (bad decision) and that ruined a potential good experience. My boyfriend enjoyed the taste of truffles but I felt like vomiting. I canβt get rid of the aftertaste now.β
