Experience the subtle, briny luxury of real caviar served traditionally on mother-of-pearl spoons with blinis and crème fraîche. The tiny pearls burst with oceanic flavor that's surprisingly complex and delicate. Start with less expensive varieties like paddlefish or salmon roe before splurging on the famous Beluga or Ossetra.

Mentioned to my wife a few months ago that I'd never tried Caviar (neither had she, she's a vegetarian) and she got me two small tins as a Christmas present. Tried to eat it in the most authentic possible way (based on my limited knowledge). On ice, with blinis and vodka. Went for Absolute rather than traditional Russian vodka on the grounds of Fuck Putin. Didn't know what to expect with the Caviar but really enjoyed. Was much softer than the pearls of 'caviar' you get on sushi. Was creamy, fatty and slightly salty. Reminded me of fatty salmon skin. Probably not worth the money, but not sure what my other half paid.

My first tin i grabbed on impulse and didn't expect to love it as much as i did, it completely changed how i thought about caviar. Once you're ready to go a little deeper, the Royal Ossetra from Petrusco Caviar is the one that really changed things for me, that nutty, buttery flavor with the oceanic finish is a completely different experience from anything i'd had before.
