β€œMy first day in the park I drove out to Wetherill Mesa on the far western side of the park. It is a long a snaking road through the park, traversing over several mesa tops, down into the valleys, and up again. [...] My first stop was the Long House Overlook. [...] To visit, you climb down 130 feet! [...] While I couldn’t tell much of this from afar, I did marvel at home people constructed such a village 130 feet below the mesa top! Wow.”

β€œWe started our day by driving from Morefield Campground, stopping at the Montezuma Valley overlook and the Park Point overlook for sweeping viewing of the surrounding area. From there we headed to the Far View Sites, where the remains of 50 villages can be found within a half mile of each other. There is a trail system that connects the sites, and a guidebook is available that describes exactly what you’re looking at. Some of the remains are well preserved, while others are just the remnants of a foundation in the ground.”

β€œWe went into Mesa Verde National Park not knowing exactly what to expect and were not disappointed. The scenic drive through the park was beautiful and touring the cliff dwellings from the Pueblo people was super cool. It’s apparently monsoon season and we got caught in a sudden storm that kinda rained out our afternoon/evening plans, although we happened upon some native wild horses on our way out, and came back in the morning for another cliff dwelling tour and hiked the Spruce Canyon trail.”
