The Giants Causeway - aargh I hate saying this but truthfully I was really underwhelmed on my visit. Maybe I don't know what I was expecting but in my head I had kind of thought it would be huge towering basalt columns, something a bit like Fingal's Cave on Staffa but it's really tiny. Don't get me wrong the formations of the stacked rocks are cool and I loved watching the waves crashing against the rocks but I just thought it would be more. My highlights were definitely walking up to the giants organ, the amphitheatre viewpoint and if you can hike the steep path up to the cliff top the views are incredible.

After passing through the Visitor Center, we began walking toward the Causeway. As we walked down the path, it was exciting to anticipate when the Causeway would appear and what it would look like. As we rounded the corner, we got our first view of the stunning Causeway. [...] After lunch we took a little hike on one of the four hiking paths that begin at the Giant’s Causeway. Hiking away from the Causeway, we enjoyed great views of the Causeway from a different angle. We chose a route that started as a moderate hike and merged with a challenging hike. As we approached the challenging point of the trail, we really didn’t notice much difference. So we hiked a little farther. Almost immediately, we noticed what made the trail challenging-the edge of the cliff was much closer. We made the “wise for us” decision to turn around.

Our journey to the Giant's Causeway started with a scenic drive along the Causeway Coastal Route, a breathtaking stretch of coastline that boasts rugged cliffs, secluded beaches, and picturesque villages. We made a stop or two on route an I was able to get a few pictures of the beautiful coastline. As we approached the Giant's Causeway Visitor Centre, I was pretty excited and eager to witness the legendary hexagonal basalt columns that awaited us. Our coach parked up at the visitors centre and from there you can take one of several walking routes down to the causeway or use the transport provided. We are walkers [...] so we walked down and that gave me the opportunities to get some nice coastal shots. Stepping onto the iconic basalt columns felt like stepping into another world. The sight of the towering columns, formed millions of years ago by volcanic activity, is truly awe-inspiring. We spent a good hour or so wandering along the interlocking formations, marveling at the sheer beauty and intricate patterns created by nature.
