β€œWoke up around 3:30AM because we wanted to see the night sky and the perseids meteor shower was at peak. By the time we got back it was around 4:30am and thoughts, why go to sleep, might as well start my day. Showers and headed early to Hayden Valley. As we are packing the car, a fox walks right behind us. Got to Hayden around 6am and boy the Buffalo were in full swing! They were everywhere! All around us! EVERYWHERE! what a sight and sound to experience. Best of all very few people.”

β€œOur September 8 morning was an unseasonably cold 15 degrees, with snow on the ground. I wouldn’t take it on the hike, but I was glad I had my long down coat. We drove to the Lamar River Trailhead, our meeting point for the 8 a.m. hike. We got there early and had time to soak it in. From the trailhead, we gazed out over the valley, completely serene in the new-fallen snow. Geese swam on Soda Butte Creek and ascended in flight. The lingering moon was showing off, peeking out from deep gray clouds to make itself known. All of this. This is why we get up early, even on vacation.”

β€œWhen the bunch-up strategy proved ineffective, Josh told us to stay while he moved slightly closer to the big bison. He stood his ground, but the bison just looked at him, unmoved, unmotivated, unbudging. In the middle of the stare-off, another big male bison strolled up toward his buddy, and now we had two big male bison watching us. Josh returned to us and said he’d lead us back another way. The joy of going with a guide!”

β€œI'm short on hyperboles when I say this is the best national park experience I've ever had. Yellowstone is truly nature's calling. To see Grand canyon in all of its glory was surreal. Geysers and Springs were phenomenal. Bears - We spotted around 10-12 grizzly on our visit. We hit the hayden valley couple of times at sunset and sunrise. Black bears on the Tower Junction road to Canyon village. In lamar valley after the slough creek. Major close encounters in Hayden valley all the way to Yellowstone lake.”
