Wear something bold, colorful, or unconventional that you normally wouldn't dare to wear in public - maybe bright red shoes, a vintage hat, or a statement piece of jewelry. The goal is to get comfortable with standing out and realizing that most people either don't notice or actually appreciate someone with confidence to express themselves.

I like vintage/retro style, as in everything from the 20s to the 60s, cottage core/dark academia etc. Recently purchased a pricey handmade skirt that I have yet to wear because I feel self-consciousness about sticking out and drawing attention to myself. I think I would have an easier time wearing what I want if I lived on my own so I don't have to hear my family's comments regarding my looks. A few years ago I bought Doc Martens with the colorful Hieronymous Bosch Design. Everytime I wore them people would point at them and talk about it, one even asked to take a picture of them. I don't know it was too overwhelming for me and I never wore them since.

I also struggled to wear colours that weren’t neutral or monochrome. Anything that was bright or could potentially draw attention, or anything that didn’t provide 100% comfort (where I could risk my skirt riding up a bit or my heels causing me to walk funny) I would avoid like the plague. So I never wore skirts on my own outside either, with the exception of long maxi skirts that hide everything. I couldn’t put my finger on it, until recently. I realised that I REALLY struggle with how people look at me. Even the notion of someone looking at me is terrifying.
