Embrace your inner child at this wildly popular festival where getting completely covered in mineral-rich mud is the whole point. What started as a marketing campaign for cosmetics has become Korea's messiest party, with mud wrestling, mud slides, and mud painting competitions on the beach. The therapeutic mud is said to be great for your skin, but honestly, you'll be having too much fun to care about the health benefits.

βI ran in, holding my breath and bracing myself for the felling of a million tiny piranha tearing at my skin. I was not ready for it to be warm, it was more of a shock than the cold would have been. It was like being in a salty bath with about a thousand other people, jumping at every huge wave that crashed into the beach. The swell was easily five or six feet and the waves were merciless but people were carrying on and taking the beating.β
βAfter cleaning up in the ocean we returned to our home base where we washed and scrubbed the mud out of every little crevice at least three times. I couldnβt get the mud off of me! When I finally did I had the most amazing silky soft smooth skin ever! I have never been a big spa person but now Iβm a huge believer in mud baths! Even better, my skin stayed that way for nearly a week after my βtreatment.ββ
βUpon arrival we easily found free parking and after slathering on sunscreen and encasing our phones in their protective waterproof pouches we set off in search of tickets. Anticipating long ticket lines we were surprised to find the festival area somewhat empty. I guess nobody wanted to get wasted that early?β
