โI remember the first time I managed to get the mast upright and grab the boom. The board was suddenly transformed from a wobbly platform into a speeding missile. After the exhilaration came the panic and, with no idea what to do next, I did what I still do when panic sets in โ I let go and jumped off. Unfortunately, I fell off the board into an invasion of jellyfish. I still remember the pain and the red marks across the front of my body like slashes from Freddy Krueger's steel fingers.โ
โ6 knots, with a few gusts here or there is definitely lame in some ways, but i was surprised windsurfing was possible at all. it is, even on small sails, and ancient mistrals. [...] now in 6 knots, forget any kind of adrenaline pumping speed rush. but you are moving, and its nice to be out there, away from honking horns, obnoxious music. theres a peaceful serenity in light winds, that i think more people should appreciate.โ
โAt the end of every class, we were tired. But we were persevering, felt tons of times and then got back on board. It was an amazing experience to learn to trust ourselves. [...] After every class we were so tired of the day of windsurfing, that we have had a very good sleep at night. We did a great workout. Almost every muscle in the body is used while windsurfing, at some point (arms, shoulders, back, core, legs).โ
