โFor me the feeling on the water is just freedom, I can let my mind unravel and process all my thought that my impulse heavy brain collected! Don't expect to be riding after a couple of lessons. Usually they learn you how to be safe on the water and imprint the know how to practice on your own. It's common that you can do a waterstart after the course but usually you won't go upwind yet. Meaning you kite a bit, drop in the water to chance directions and kite a bit back, but the wind will push you back more and more so at one point you have to get out of the water and walk all the way back. This ok, but can also be frustrating.โ
โI was expecting to get up to speed much quicker, because I've done a lot of board sports - I was a windsurfing instructor once upon a time, but I realised after a couple of days that this was hindering not helping (some good windsurfing techniques translate to bad kiting habits!) - I started making progress when I wiped my brain and assumed that I knew nothing! Nearly everyone spends a good while in the "pit of despair", where you overthink all the things that have to happen at once. But eventually your body learns how it feels, and then you're awayโ
