Have a picnic on the Champ de Mars

“The second half of the day, I headed towards Champ de Mars with rosé & snacks to meet up with my friend Isobel and her workmate Kathleen. We were supposed to join a large group of people for a picnic but couldn’t find them so we ended up just finding a spot to sit in the very crowded Champ de Mars right in front of the Eiffel Tower at about 6 pm. The fireworks started at 11 pm so there was a long way to go but we just soaked in the atmosphere, ate and drank wine.”

“To help save money, Mr. Harrah and I opted out of this experience, this particular visit, and instead planned a long, relaxing picnic in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower upon the Champ de Mars, a large green space that has been open to the public since 1780. [...] We gave in, of course, as the view was fantastic, and decided to sit with our backs to a fenced-in garden bed given the monument.”
