See the ballet at the Palais Garnier in Paris

“Wanting to do something a bit different during our vacation, I got tickets for a performance at the Opera Garnier in Paris. We have passed this grand building so often, it was time to venture inside. I took my husband to see a ballet, and that was my mistake. He enjoys the opera, the ballet, not so much as I found out. [...] Truthfully, I just wanted to see a performance at Palais Garnier, I felt that it would be the best way to see the building in all its glory. It was. [...] It was surprising to see a very wide range of clothing worn by the patrons. Some people were dressed up and some came in tee shirts and sneakers. [...] I love Chagall, it was really difficult to take my eyes away from the ceiling and focus them on the actual performance.”

“I’m a tourist and watched the POB’s Giselle tonight (May 16) at Palais Garnier in the Amphitheater for €35. Despite the spectacular performance, I was distracted by the behavior of some audience. There was a large group of students and a few of them were recording videos during act II. Someone even (accidentally) had flashlight on! I didn’t say anything because I don’t speak French and wasn’t sure if it’ll be even more disruptive. Then some were talking loudly, got shhh by someone else, and started texting each other. I feel so lucky to have got tickets for the show and to get to watch POB live. But I’m so disappointed by some people’s etiquette and feel bad that they did not respect the dancers.”

“I was in Paris last may and scored a ballet ticket for 12 euros, youth discount I am not sure if it's guaranteed, it worked out for me but if seeing the ballet is important to you you should consider buying ahead. My seat was the highest floor side wing restricted view, but seeing the palais and ballet was totally worth it.”
