βAt almost every step, I had to stop and google what each fold and instruction meant. Swivel fold? Inside reverse fold? Rabbit ear?! All new to me. I found it difficult to understand all the new folds and spent ages staring at diagrams to try to see how one step could possibly lead to the next. But, finally, I figured out all the folds and, after a few hours, I had a finished model. Itβs far from perfect, but if you squint you can just about recognise it as a chameleon!β
βOrigami is certainly an art β a disciplined art. It requires incredible patience and attention to detail. Given the time and patience, a novice like myself maybe able to finish a more complex tutorial, but itβs the mastery of the craft that makes the difference. In a way, the paper acts like putty in your hands, you need to know how to work with it β not against it. At times, it was quite relaxing; at times, it was quite frustrating. I would never expected that that constructing dragon origami would take several hours not just the 27 minutes. Notably, most of the that time was spent playing the video at 0.5 speed and constantly repeating intricate steps to identify small details being overlooked.β
βI was into folding paper cranes and boats back in kindergarten, and i thought that was a cool enough talent to have. Then about 2 years ago, I saw Satoshi Kamiya's Ancient dragon, well i got hooked. I was so baffled that you can make something like that out of a flat piece of paper. I tried and failed to learn it HAHAHAHA. Took me the better part of a year to actually finish it. Ever since, I've been doing it almost everyday.β
