Make an Origami Animal

“In downtown Santa Cruz, there used to be bronze penguin statues called "the boys of summer" along the sidewalk. For a while, every day I would make 4 little origami goldfish and leave them on each penguin's pedestal like an offering. Sometimes I would decorate the fish with sharpie. It became a kind of ritual for me. Some days they would be where I left them, some days they would be gone. I never saw anyone reacting to them, but I hope it made people curious, and I hope some people took the fish home with them as souvenirs.”

“I had one weird experience, though—I was making little rabbits in a coffee shop before Easter and was going to leave one on the table. My husband said, oh, give it to those kids over there! So I tried to do that, but predictably the mom said no. Duh, I should have realized that might seem creepy. So I’ll have to start just leaving them anonymously.”

“FINALLYYYYY……. after years and years of random crap, I folded my first invention that I was PROUD of. There it is. Above. What is it you ask? Obviously, a flying pig. hahaha. (My little brother loved pigs so another reason for me to love it.) As my first “real” invention, I made about 20 copies of it tweaking it each time to get a model I liked. When I showed people, they were impressed but they thought it was a large moth or something. Psh. What do they know anyways. haha. Still proud of it.”
