โAfter the first couple of folds, having not-quite-square paper was a bit of concern. And my not-quite-as-perfect craftsmanship as a novice would also be partially to blame here. [...] Largely, it took a significant amount of time before my folded paper looked more like an actual figure of sorts. I soon learned this was a process of delayed gratification.โ
โOrigami on the other hand, requires very precise and careful folding of paper to achieve the best creases and shapes. I was glad that most people at the event were not experienced with origami either. It was challenging to follow the youtube videos because the instructor would often get through the folding process much quicker than I could. This was okay though because in the end, I went at my own pace and was still able to create a crane that I was proud of (for my first try).โ
โBut when I could learn from a book in any language, as long as it had pictures, I was on my way. From my English language books of various levels of difficulty, I could always translate the pictures and words into my language of origami. I fold my way, but accept that others do things differently. Some books are too difficult for me to enjoy, but I will try a model now and then. I accept some failure.โ
