Origami transforms a simple piece of paper into something beautiful through precise folds and patience. Start with basic models like cranes or flowers, then work up to complex designs - the meditative focus required makes it an excellent way to quiet a busy mind while creating something tangible.

β€œAfter the first couple of folds, having not-quite-square paper was a bit of concern. And my not-quite-as-perfect craftsmanship as a novice would also be partially to blame here. Largely, it took a significant amount of time before my folded paper looked more like an actual figure of sorts. I soon learned this was a process of delayed gratification. The tutorial did say it was intended for low intermediate, but I did not consider that origami would have its own nomenclature folding. In terms of the author’s audience, others more versed in folding origami would work more efficiently with the vocabulary. Though, with the video, it just took me more time to visual process what was going on.”

β€œLooking for Origami swans online, I was surprised to find many different designs. An easy set of Origami swan instructions, I mangled with a cartoonish elongated necked bird and hastily disposed of the paper creature. Here is the result of another swan design which turned out rather clunky and almost cubist in shape. Oh well…what can one expect…it has been ages since I folded.”
