Start with soy wax for easier cleanup and better scent throw, and always use a double boiler setup for safety. Experiment with essential oil blends to create signature scents, and pour into vintage teacups or mason jars for personalized gifts that people actually use.

βFebruary was candle making and I quickly realizedβ¦ making one good candle is a lot more involved than I expected. I made my first candleβ¦ And immediately learned a few things: * I didnβt fill it all the way * I got a huge sinkhole in the middle (whoops) * My wick wasnβt perfectly centered Cue emergency Google search.β
βFirst, that candle making takes a lot of practice. If you start a candle business but you've never made a candle, you need a lot of determination and patience to get there. I didn't know how many different types of waxes, wicks, jars, lids, labels, styles, and scents were out there in the world. I bought way too many things I didn't need and cried many a tear. I finally figured it out, but not without gaining BIG respect to my fellow hand-pouring candle makers.β
