Racquetball is like playing inside a pinball machine where you and your opponent are the flippers. The enclosed court creates wild ricochets and requires quick thinking as the ball flies at high speeds. It's an incredible workout that improves hand-eye coordination, and most recreation centers have courts available for reasonable hourly rates.

βI played racquetball first time Sunday. I was a tennis player - clearly not helpful with timing. I was struck (humiliated) by the speed and my lack of court position. I got hit several times due to my mid judgement of the angles and velocity. The person I played with is very experienced - I canβt blame him for my lack of skills. Practice suggestions? Adjusting gear as well until I can better predict where I need to be - I will play again tomorrow.β
βThe return to racquetball came on an outdoors court in Columbia, MD. I had never played on an outdoors court before and I have to say it was better than I expected--it was a four-wall court made of poured concrete and cinderblock. Being back on the court was fantastic, even in the 90 degree temperatures with soaring humidity. It showed how out of shape I had become while sheltering in place. I had thought it would not be so bad since I have been walking regularly, but there is a big difference between walking a golf course or with a dog around the neighborhood and chasing a 100 mph blue ball around an 800 square foot concrete enclosure on a 90 degree day. [...] I have to admit, it was a different experience tracking the ball from sun to shadow and back to sun. I felt the concrete walls made the ball play faster--which further highlighted how much work I need to do to get back into some semblance of racquetball shape.β
βWow! What a fun sport. It's super intense and fast-paced. Unlike tennis, you can super whap the sh*t out of the ball almost every time, and it will still be good for a point. It's a great place to take your aggression out. I recommend it to anyone who's even remotely competitive. Awesome workout. Use eyewear though! I took a bullet right on my left eye... well, I would have if not for the goggles.β
