Finding the perfect wedding dress is an emotional journey that combines style, fit, and that magical 'yes' moment when you know it's the one. Bring trusted friends or family for honest opinions, but trust your instincts when you feel that special connection to a dress. My consultant, Peter, was wonderful and I felt like the experience was personal even though I went on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. My station was in the main showroom. I tried on about 8 dresses, and while I generally liked them I was a little disappointed that some of my favorites from the website didn’t look the way I hoped they would on me. I’d sent this dress as one of five options I liked to the concierge in advance of my appointment, but Peter struggled to find it in the store. Finally, as I’m trying on what I thought was my last dress, Dorothy came over and let Peter know she’d found it on the new arrivals rack, delivered today. I was the first person ever to try it on. I fell in love immediately and got to say yes on the spot!

I think the generation that grew up on/after “say yes to the dress” is cursed to always think that’s how it’s supposed to feel - the epiphany, the tears. It didn’t happen that way for me. I LOVE my dress, but I tried on close to 50 and I had to keep narrowing down what I liked - I gravitated towards a specific kind of design/pattern and silhouette so it was easy to eliminate options and research/think about what I most wanted. I kind of “warmed up” to it. Tbh, I compare it to meeting my fiancé. He was a little bit rude to me the first time we met and I was like huh, weird dude. The next time, we talked more and he seemed cool. We were best friends about 2 months later and the rest is history. Not everyone falls in love (with a person or a dress!) in an instant.

Honestly, every dress I put on was "oh my gosh yay I feel so pretty, this could be the one!!!" And I felt like it would be impossible to choose because they all felt special and wonderful But when I put on the dress that turned out to be my dress, it was a combination of sudden sadness that my dad, who has passed away, wouldn't see me in it, and a sort of panic of "oh sh t oh f ck I'm actually getting married what the f*ck
