โAfter I got my first job in 2016, I finally decided to buy a ticket and watch my first race live to see what the hype was all about. Tbh, I knew nothing about F1, only knew there used to be a guy called Schumacher and he was in a Ferrari. On my first day at the track, I watched the practice sessions live and it was one of the best things I had ever experienced, especially the adrenaline I got with the sounds. By the race day, I knew most of the drivers, their championship history and backstories, how the cars worked, how the tire compounds worked, what happens in the pitlanes etc.โ
โI expected lots of walking, but the amount of walking that I expected was not nearly as much as we actually did. For context, we opted to take the shuttle from Verviers-central to the circuit. The shuttle drops you off about a mile and a half from the circuit. You walk through a very charming town and the energy and excitement makes the air electric. By the time we made it to the main entrance, I was at a little over 5,000 steps. Our first day there was Saturday and we walked over 16 miles according to my Garmin watch. Wearing comfortable shoes and socks is an obvious, but another recommendation is to keep bandaids in your pocket or bag in the event of blistering.โ
