This requires serious dedication to both diet and exercise, typically taking 6-12 months of consistent work. Focus on compound movements like planks, deadlifts, and squats while eating at a caloric deficit to reveal the muscles underneath. The mental discipline you'll develop is arguably more valuable than the visible abs.

People who tried this
βTo achieve the leanness needed to see an abdominal definition, I had to eat less food than my body required. As a result, I became obsessed with my food intake, and it was all I thought about every second of the day. I continually had to βcoachβ myself into eating less, and I avoided social situations that would potentially cause me to eat like a normal person. Because I was eating below my necessary caloric needs, I didnβt recover well from my training, and I was much more prone to injury. I also went through bouts of depression and anxiety, and eventually developed major disordered eating tendencies that lasted for years.β
βSo how did getting abs change my life? It didnβt. It was great to be able to say that I accomplished it, but I have never worked harder for as long for so little benefit. I tried putting up just an abs photo on Tinder as an experiment and got zero matches. Literally none.β
βThat said, when I first got abs, I remember thinking this was my defining moment. I remember thinking, βFinally, the world is mine.β And I can tell you exactly when that was: It was my junior year of high school, and I very specifically remember stepping out of the shower and seeing something of a 2 pack sifting through the steamed up mirror. Are those mine? Seriously? Oh, I was so excited; I could hardly contain myself.β
