βAs for challenges, when I first started to jump, it was extraordinarily difficult for me to stay patient. I was frustrated that all my strength and stamina were gone, sad even. How could a 1-pound jump rope beat me? I didnβt stay in a sad mood for long. I accepted what was and moved forward with my training. Every day that I spent jumping I was moving the needle a little bit more. I was improving and not staying stagnate. Thatβs what matters in the end, and I always keep that in mind. I went from not being able to swing the 1-pound rope for 10 seconds to doing full 20-minute workouts with short breaks in between.β
βThe first few weeks were a humbling spectacle. The rope, once a familiar childhood toy, transformed into my nemesis. It snagged around my ankles, tripped me like a mischievous pixie, and left me feeling like a particularly ungraceful puppy tangled in its leash lol! Each missed swing, each stumble, pricked at my resolve, but instead of giving up, I started paying attention.β
βI downloaded the first "interval timer" that popped up in my playstore and my phone would lie beside me giving me prompting beeps for jump and rest. My fitbit pretty accurately counts my jumps (albeit as "steps" in a run). And I'd be lost without my Overdrive app for library audiobooks.β
