Meditation trains your mind to observe thoughts without judgment, building focus and emotional resilience. Start with just 5 minutes of focusing on your breath—when your mind wanders, gently return attention to breathing. Guided apps can help initially, but the goal is developing your own practice.

People who tried this

On the fourth day, I had a highly meaningful feeling after I’d been meditating in the afternoon about an hour. For a few minutes, I felt filled with a glowing, peaceful feeling, a feeling that everything was right with the world and me, that I was tapped into something meaningful. I finally understood what people were talking about when they talked about the peacefulness and joy of meditation. [...] It felt like a huge weight had lifted from me. It felt like there had been a heavy, anxiety-producing weight on my heart, around my heart, and that now I felt light.

The first 1-3 weeks of meditating was rough. My thoughts would not quiet no matter how hard I tried. I have a very active and vivid imagination. This flared up a lot when I began to meditate. Furthermore, when I had sessions where I was finally able to quiet down everything, I would feel very angry for no reason. It was very strange, but I imagine it was because my mind was so used to just being free and doing whatever it wanted to do that it became “angry” when it was suddenly not allowed full reign.
