Beach volleyball combines the fun of volleyball with the added challenge of sand, which increases calorie burn and improves balance while being easier on joints. The beach setting creates a relaxed, social atmosphere perfect for pickup games. Sand makes diving for balls less intimidating, encouraging more aggressive play.

โMy initial reaction was to say no, to tell them I wasn't ready and that I didn't want to play and stall the game for the "real" athletes. I'm programmed to chicken out and run away from what I'm scared of, after all. But not this time. I knew I had to suck it up, say yes and dive head first into what I feared most. So what if I failed? I was among friends who wanted to help me, teach me and see me progress. So I jumped right into a game of fours. After some briefing on how the game worked (since I had really only been practicing drills and not playing an actual game), we started. It was rocky. I wasn't ever exactly sure if I was standing in the right place or calling balls properly, but there I was, giving it my all. Even if I didn't hit every ball perfectly, I was trying.โ
โSo, I was playing this weekend, and my vertical was non-existent, but then they explained to me the difference between jumping on sand and on the court, and my game improved a lot, and hitting theses shots are amazing, And having to cover the entire court alone when my partner goes up to block is so good, reading the game and being in the right place Beach is awesomeโ
โDuring one of my pool games, my team was down 12-1. It was a BRUTAL beating, but I still tried to play my best. We ended going down 21-7, but I didnโt feel bad in the end because I knew I gave it my all that game.โ
