βDuring the first class we started off by learning how to breathe properly. Breathing has always been my weak point while working out at the gym, as I tend to hold my breath while doing an exercise. It might not sound like it, but breathing in and out at the right time during an exercise can actually be really hard and demands a lot of attention. The difference between the right kind of breathing and, well, not breathing at all is huge. It really makes you pay attention to where youβre supposed to feel the exercise and what muscles youβre supposed to use.β
βAs Iβm writing this Iβm about two hours removed from taking my very first Pilates class, like, EVER. [...] my legs are still shaking and I canβt walk anywhere and Iβm pretty much glued to my couch at the moment writing this.β
βI took a class with Del and learned the importance of pelvic stability. And Staceyβs class focused on core strength, which left me shaking (in a good way!). And I took Josieβs Pilates Chair class on a Tuesday morning. Of all the classes I took this past month, chair was by far the most challenging. Josie utilized both the chair and the barre to stretch and strengthen, and the chair for strength building, balance, and stretching. I loved how she was able to use the chair to perform specific exercises or poses that added a whole new challenge, which could only be achieved by use of the Pilates chair.β
