Push yourself out of your fitness comfort zone by joining a group exercise class. Whether it's yoga, spin, Zumba, or kickboxing, the energy of working out with others and following an instructor's guidance can be incredibly motivating. Most gyms offer trial classes, and the social aspect makes exercise feel less like work.

βWhen I arrived at the studio, I found out that I didnβt have to wear shoes (what?) and that special socks would be helpful. I reluctantly handed over my credit card to pay $14 for some socks with grips on the bottom. I grabbed a few items that others around me seemed to be grabbing [...] and maneuvered myself into a corner of class where I could hide from the world (or at least the instructor). I spent the next 45 minutes realizing that there was a lot I didnβt know [...] That baby weights are deceptive and are secretly the devil [...] That my body shakes uncontrollably when placed in awkward positions for thirty seconds [...] No matter how hard you try, you canβt hide from a good instructor (Iβm pretty sure he fixed my form a million and a half times over the course of the class β for which I am grateful. I was basically given a 1-on-1 training amid a group class because I had no idea what I was doing) I left class that day feeling slightly defeated, but mainly very proud and accomplished for stepping out of my comfort zone and getting in a good workout.β
βI was veeeery intimidated the first few times I went and I still am sometimes. [...] At first I felt like a whimp because a lot of the ladies could go harder and faster and stronger than me. (It's intense HIIT training) but that was mostly down to me being a beginner at it and not everyone has the same abilities anyways. While I did feel awkward at first usually being the only guy, I started to realise that once everyone starts sweating and gasping for their lives, no one gives a fuck who you are, how you're doing the exercises, if you have to stop sometimes, or what you look like. The sole focus becomes trying to breathe without collapsing or being sick.β
